Hakhano Colliery
- Unicoal procures large amounts of high quality ROM coal from Hakhano Colliery in South Africa. Hakhano Colliery is based 20 km east of Middelburg, and became an operational mine in December 2009. It is an opencast mine. Unicoal entered into an off-take agreement with the mining right holders in September 2014, to purchase all ROM coal mined at the colliery.
- ROM coal which is purchased from the colliery is processed through a 400 ton per hour DMS processing plant, yielding 4 products being, Nuts, Peas, Duff and Spiral, which are then on-sold to Unicoal customers in its final form.
- The Nuts are exported out of Maputo Main Port, whilst the peas product is sold to the inland market and other local coal traders. The remaining product is sold to global customers through Richards Bay Coal Terminal.
- Unicoal has made a name for itself through coal supplies to various industries in the South African inland market.
